Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and other events held in Sendai City.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the opening ceremony in the presence of Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan. Following that, the Prime Minister attended the High Level Segment and a High Level Partnership Dialogue.
In addition, the Prime Minister held meetings, respectively, with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations; H.E. Mr. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand; H.E. Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan; His Majesty King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Swaziland; H.E. Baldwin Jacobson Lonsdale, President of the Republic of Vanuatu; and the Rt. Hon. Anastase Murekezi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda. Afterwards, Prime Minister Abe received a courtesy call from the vice presidents of various countries and others.
In the evening, the Prime Minister attended a welcome reception hosted by the Japanese Government.
