[Opening Statement by Prime Minister Takaichi]
Let me begin by offering my deepest condolences to all those who lost their lives in the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and the Oku-Noto heavy rains. I also extend my deepest sympathies to all the affected individuals. In particular, for those who have lost family members, the depth of their grief remains profound, and I believe it is not something that can be healed even after many years. I offer my sincerest condolences from the bottom of my heart.
Today, I visited Suzu City, Wajima City, Nanao City, and Anamizu Town in Ishikawa Prefecture, where I witnessed firsthand the immense scale of the damage caused by the earthquake and heavy rain, and confirmed the status of the recovery and reconstruction efforts. I reaffirm my strong determination to ensure the recovery and reconstruction of the Noto region.
Meanwhile, I have just received a request from Governor Hase. We will strive to meet as many of those requests as possible. To restore the vibrant towns and the smiles of everyone that existed prior to the disaster, and to fully embrace the feelings of each and every affected individual, we will work closely with the prefecture, cities, towns, and relevant ministries to resolve challenges and ensure the swift recovery and reconstruction of the affected areas, covering infrastructure restoration and the rebuilding of lives and livelihoods. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared their views with me at the places I visited today. Thank you very much.
