On December 1, 2025, Prime Minister Takaichi attended a Liaison Meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties at the Prime Minister’s Office.
In her opening remarks, the Prime Minister said:
“Thank you very much for your hard work. Today, we are holding the first Liaison Meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties since the inauguration of the coalition government. First, let me briefly explain what the Takaichi Cabinet has done thus far.
The Takaichi Cabinet has pushed ahead with measures against rising prices as its highest-priority issue. At the Cabinet meeting on November 21, we approved the Comprehensive Economic Measures, which form the first pillar of our countermeasures to address soaring prices. In formulating the measures, we received proposals both from the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those concerned for their efforts.
The Government is now compiling the FY2025 supplementary budget bill to provide the financial foundation for these economic measures so that we can swiftly deliver our initiatives to combat high prices to the public, including subsidies for electricity and gas bills. Last week, we approved the draft supplementary budget proposal in the November 28 Cabinet meeting. Going forward, we will submit this supplementary budget bill to the current session of the Diet for early enactment. I ask for the continued cooperation of the members of the ruling parties.
Since my administration’s inauguration, while giving top priority to the formulation of economic measures, I have not only participated in important multilateral conferences such as ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-related summit meetings, the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) leaders’ meeting, and the G20 summit but also held summit talks with the United States, China, the Republic of Korea, India, and Australia, among others. In doing so, I have worked to realize strong Japanese diplomacy.
Based on the coalition agreement, we have also established the Office for the Review of Special Measures Concerning Taxation and Subsidies within the Cabinet Secretariat to advance the proper implementation of special measures concerning taxation, subsidies, and other programs. Another new organization is the Population Strategy Headquarters, which comprehensively promotes measures against population decline. Regarding social security reforms, I issued instructions as Prime Minister at the Headquarters for Social Security System Oriented to All Generations. We have thus been tackling many important challenges.
It has now been slightly more than a month since the inauguration of the coalition government. Despite such a short period of time, I believe the Cabinet has successfully set a certain course of action to build a robust economy and ensure strong diplomacy and security. I hope to continue to manage the administration with the Government and ruling parties working as one, and I appreciate your continued support. That is all from me.”
