On September 18, commencing at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), who is visiting Japan. The overview is as follows:
 
1. At the outset, Prime Minister ISHIBA stated that he was pleased to meet Director-General Azoulay for the first time and expressed his sincere respect for her strong leadership at UNESCO over the past eight years since taking office as Director-General. He also stated that the role of UNESCO is important, and that Japan will continue to contribute to its activities.
 
2. Director-General Azoulay expressed her appreciation for Japan’s longstanding support for UNESCO’s initiatives across various fields, including education, science, and culture.
