TICAD9 (The Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development) Spouses Program (Summary)

On August 21, Mrs. Yoshiko Ishiba, the Spouse of the Prime Minister, hosted the TICAD9 (The Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development) Spouses Program in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Together with the spouses of the heads of delegations and Deputy Mayor Tomoko Okubo of Yokohama City, Mrs. Ishiba visited Sankeien Garden and Yokohama Strawberry Park. The spouses enjoyed a Nohgaku performance, experienced playing traditional Japanese musical instruments, and attended a luncheon hosted by Mrs. Ishiba.

Later, they participated in a tea whisking experience and visited Yokohama Strawberry Park to learn about the facility's initiatives for employing people with disabilities. They also took part in picking strawberries grown by the employees with disabilities, deepening their understanding of Japan's efforts toward a diverse and inclusive society. The day concluded with a banquet hosted by the Prime Minister and Mrs. Ishiba.
