Courtesy Call from Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Japan of the United Arab Emirates (Summary)
On April 14th, commencing at 2 pm for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Japan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who is visiting Japan. The overview is as follows.

At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba welcomed Minister Jaber’s visit to Japan and stated that Japan attaches great importance to its relationship with the UAE, a Comprehensive Strategic Partner, and expressed his hope to further strengthen cooperation with the UAE in various fields. In response, Minister Jaber expressed his renewed hopes for strengthening bilateral relations with Japan.

Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s long-standing stable supply of crude oil to Japan and for the UAE’s generosity regarding the participation of Japanese companies in the upstream development of crude oil. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing close cooperation towards stabilization of the crude oil market, and on the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) which is currently under negotiation. Both sides also reaffirmed that Japan and the UAE will closely coordinate to make the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai a success.
