On November 19, commencing at 11:35 a.m. (UTC-3, on November 19, at 11:35 p.m. JST) for approximately 20 minutes, H.E. Mr. Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, during his visit to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, attended the Japan-Italy-United Kingdom Leaders’ Meeting on Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) with the Rt Hon Keir Starmer MP, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and H.E. Ms. Giorgia MELONI, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Prime Minister Ishiba stated that the joint development of the next generation fighter jet that will bring together the technologies of the three countries, which have a longstanding and close relationship based on common values such as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law, will be the cornerstone of broad cooperation among the three countries for decades to come.
2. The three leaders concurred on continuing to work closely together to complete the development under the leadership of them and to vigorously promote the GCAP, the core of defense cooperation among the three countries.
