Informal Talks between Prime Minister Ishiba and President Prabowo of the Republic of Indonesia (Summary)

On November 16 local time (November 17 Japan time), Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting the Republic of Peru to attend the APEC Leaders' Meeting, held informal talks with H.E. Mr. Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia. The overview is as follows.
1. Prime Minister ISHIBA stated that he attaches importance on cooperation with Indonesia towards the realization of a free and open Indo-Pacific based on the rule of law, and he would like to make concreate progress in security cooperation, including transfer of defense equipment. In response, President Prabowo stated that he would like to further promote cooperation and the two leaders concurred to cooperate in this area.
2. The two leaders also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in such areas as establishment of school meal program, which is one of the areas of focus for the Prabowo administration.
