Japan-U.S. Summit Meeting (Summary)

On November 15, commencing at 2:30 p.m. (local time, 4:30 a.m. on November 16, JST) for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, visiting Lima, Peru to attend the APEC Summit Meeting, held a meeting with the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States of America. The overview is as follows.
1. Prime Minister Ishiba expressed gratitude to President Biden for his contributions to the Japan-U.S. Alliance. The two leaders concurred on continuing cooperating to strengthen the Japan-U.S. Alliance, and to further develop networks of like-minded countries, including Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK).
2. The two leaders concurred on continuing working closely on policies toward the situation regarding North Korea including on the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue and the situation in Ukraine.
3. At the end of the meeting, the two leaders concurred on continuing working closely to further uphold and bolster the Japan-U.S. relationship, which has become stronger than ever.
