Japan - Australia Summit Telephone Meeting (Summary)
On October 2, commencing at 16:45 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone meeting with the Hon. Anthony Albanese, MP, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia. The overview of the talk is as follows:

At the outset, Prime Minister Albanese conveyed his congratulations on Prime Minister Ishiba’s appointment as Prime Minister. In response, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his gratitude and emphasized his commitment to further strengthening the cooperative relationship between Japan and Australia.

The two leaders confirmed that they would continue to cooperate closely on a wide range of issues including those in the field of security.

The two leaders concurred that Japan and Australia would strengthen the cooperation with like-minded countries such as the U.S., ROK and India, as well as multilateral cooperation such as Japan-Australia-U.S.-India.

The two leaders also concurred to work together on issues in the fields of resources and energy, as well as economic security.
