Congratulatory Message by Prime Minister Kishida to President Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa

On 18 June, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory letter to H.E. Mr. Matamela Cyril RAMAPHOSA, President of the Republic of South Africa, on his re-election at the National Assembly held in South Africa on 14 June.

In the letter, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed the establishment of the Government of National Unity under President Ramaphosa's leadership and expressed his hope that South Africa would enter a new era of hope and make a significant contribution to peace and prosperity of entire Africa.

Prime Minister Kishida also conveyed his willingness to work closely with President Ramaphosa for further developing the bilateral relations in a wide range of areas including economy, trade, science and technology, on such occasions as TICAD 9 in August 2025, mentioning that Japan and South Africa share fundamental values and principles such as freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
