Congratulatory Message from Prime Minister Kishida to H.E. Ms. Halla Tómasdóttir, President-elect of Iceland

On June 12, following the election of the President of Iceland which was held on June 1, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory letter to H.E. Ms. Halla Tómasdóttir on her election as the President-elect.
In the letter, Prime Minister Kishida extended his congratulations to President-elect Tómasdóttir, and conveyed his willingness to work together to further strengthen relations with the Nordic countries under Japan’s Nordic Diplomacy Initiative. He also expressed his intention to further deepen cooperation with Iceland in maintaining and strengthening the free and open international order based on the rule of law, including the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific."
