Letter from Prime Minister Kishida to former Prime Minister Lee of the Republic of Singapore and Congratulatory Letter to Prime Minister Wong of the Republic of Singapore

On 15 May (local time), H.E. Mr. Lawrence Wong was appointed as Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, and Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio sent a letter to H.E. Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Wong.

  1. In the letter to former Prime Minister Lee, Prime Minister Kishida showed respect to the longstanding efforts for the development of Singapore made by former Prime Minister Lee and expressed appreciation for the fact that under his leadership, cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the economy and security, has deepened and bilateral relations have been further strengthened.
  2. In the congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Wong, Prime Minister Kishida extended his congratulations and conveyed his intention to work together to further strengthen bilateral relations, with a view to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Japan-Singapore diplomatic relations in 2026.
