Congratulatory Message from Prime Minister KISHIDA to President-elect Muizzu of the Maldives

On October 6, 2023, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory letter to Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President-elect of the Republic of Maldives, following the result of the presidential election held on September 30.
In the letter, Prime Minister Kishida mentioned his hope to collaborate with the Maldives, a country with which Japan has long maintained friendly relations, toward the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
