Congratulatory Message from Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio to Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão of Timor-Leste

On July 4, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory letter to H.E. Mr. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Timor-Leste, following his appointment on June 30, 2023.
In the letter, Prime Minister Kishida conveyed the message that he would like to promote concrete cooperation in wide range of areas, including the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.” In addition, he stated that Japan will also continue to fully support Timor-Leste’s realizing full membership in ASEAN and accession to the WTO, and will further strengthen cooperation in addressing regional and international challenges.
