Press Conference by Prime Minister Kishida regarding the Summit Telephone Talk with President Erdoğan of Türkiye

   
A short while ago, I held a telephone talk with President Erdoğan of Türkiye. I expressed my condolences to those who lost their lives in the massive earthquake that struck the southeastern part of Türkiye on February 6, and conveyed my sympathies to those affected. While touching on the assistance Japan received from Türkiye in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake, I gave President Erdoğan an overview of the assistance the Government of Japan has provided to date, including the deployment of Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Urban Search and Rescue Team and a medical team, as well as the dispatch of equipment and materials and medical teams by Self-Defense Force aircraft. I also informed President Erdoğan that Japan will be providing additional $8.5 million in emergency humanitarian assistance to Türkiye. President Erdoğan responded by expressing his deep gratitude for Japan's assistance. Thank you.
