I am aware that the United States has announced its diplomatic boycott of the Beijing (Pekin) Olympic and Paralympic Games. We will decide how Japan should respond to the matter in light of our national interests, based on a comprehensive consideration of the significance of the Olympics and what the Games would mean for Japan's diplomacy. This is our basic stance.
