On July 29, commencing at 3:50p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia, H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, and the Honorable Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, who are visiting Japan to attend the Japan-Australia-India-U.S. Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. MORIYA Hiroshi, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, Mr. ISHIHARA Hirotaka, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, and others attended the courtesy call.
1. After welcoming the visit by foreign ministers from the three countries, Prime Minister KISHIDA stated that the importance of the cooperation among the Quad is increasing in order to protect principles and universal values with determination under the current international situation, which is becoming increasingly uncertain, and he welcomed the various cooperation which have been developed after discussions among foreign ministers.
2. Foreign ministers from the three countries spoke of the importance of reinforcing a rules-based, free and open international order through cooperation among Japan, Australia, India and the United States as partners sharing fundamental values, and confirmed further collaboration among four countries, advancing various cooperation as the Quad for the peace and stability in the region.
3. In addition, Prime Minister KISHIDA stated that the four countries would continue to cooperate closely with each other at various levels.
