Prime Minister Kishida’s attendance at the ceremony of issuing the Ukraine Compact (Summary)

On July 11, commencing at 5:40 p.m. (local time July 11 at 6 40 a.m. Japan time ), for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting the U.S. to attend the NATO Summit, attended at the ceremony of issuing the Ukraine Compact. The overview is as follows.

  1. This ceremony was held on the basis of the fact that among the countries and regions participating in the "Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine" issued at the NATO Summit in Lithuania in July last year, many countries and regions, including Japan, signed the bilateral document based on the "Joint Declaration" with Ukraine. The ceremony was attended by the Heads of State and Government of the countries and region that have signed the bilateral document and those in the process of drafting it, as well as H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine. In the ceremony, the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States of America and President Zelenskyy delivered speeches.
  2. The Ukraine Compact was issued by the Heads of State and Government of the countries and region in attendance, expressing their unwavering commitment to continue their strong support for Ukraine based on the bilateral documents signed by each country and region with Ukraine.
