On April 12, commencing at 4:00 p.m. (local time; 5:00 a.m. on April 13, Japan Time) for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, who are visiting the State of North Carolina, United States of America, visited the North Carolina Japan Center at North Carolina State University.The overview is as follows. At the beginning of the meeting, a medal was granted to university students with excellent grades in Japanese.
1. Prime Minister Kishida and Mrs. Kishida received a briefing from Mr. Stephen Sumner, Director of the North Carolina Japan Center, on the activities of the Center. Prime Minister Kishida and Mrs. Kishida also held talks with university students in the State of North Carolina and adults who are studying Japanese at the Center to exchange views on Japanese language study and Japan-U.S. exchanges.
2. Prime Minister Kishida and Mrs. Kishida then held talks with junior high school students from North Carolina who had visited Hiroshima Prefecture this March, and exchanged views on their experiences in Hiroshima and Japan-U.S. youth exchanges.
