On April 10th, commencing at 6:30 p.m. (local time, 7:30 a.m. on April 11th, Japan time) for approximately 4 hours, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan and Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, during their official visit to Washington D.C., attended the State Dinner at the White House. The overview of the State Dinner is as follows. The State Dinner was joined by over 200 participants, including officials from both countries including President & former Secretary of State Clinton and those who have contributed to Japan-U.S. relations in various fields of the society.
After the opening remarks by President Biden, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude to President & Dr. Biden and stated that Japan and the U.S. are now more united than ever drawing upon the words from President Kennedy stating “The Pacific Ocean does not separate Japan and the United States. Rather, it unites us.” Prime Minister Kishida also praised the achievements of our predecessors in paving the way for the history of our two countries. Prime Minister Kishida also stated that we are standing at a historic turning point before a new frontier to further strengthen this unwavering Japan-U.S. relations and to hand them over to the next generation.
