Japan-Ukraine Summit Telephone Talk (Summary)

On April 3, commencing at around 4:45 p.m., Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, for approximately 30 minutes. The overview of the talk is as follows.
1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida once again expressed his sincere respect for the courage shown by President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine, and stated that Japan will never waver in its position of standing together with Ukraine.
2. In addition, Prime Minister Kishida stated that, having welcomed H.E. Mr. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, to Tokyo in February, and following the successful holding of the Japan-Ukraine Conference for the Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction, he intends to steadily implement the outcomes.
3. President Zelenskyy renewed his deep appreciation for Japan’s support extended thus far and the success of the February Conference, and also explained the current situation among other matters.
4. The two leaders concurred that they will continue to work closely together.
