Courtesy call on Prime Minister KISHIDA by Google CEO (Summary)

On November 16th, commencing at 3:12 p.m. (local time. November 17th, 8:12 a.m. Japan time) for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting San Francisco to attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and other events, received a courtesy call from Mr. Sundar Pichai, President and CEO, Google. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida stated that, amidst the growing movement of AI related activities in each country, it is important for the whole Japanese industry to collaborate with global companies such as Google, which has digital infrastructure.
  2. In response, CEO Pichai expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Kishida’s leadership in the area of AI, including the Hiroshima AI Process at G7. He explained about Google’s efforts in Japan, and stated that it will further continue to strengthen cooperation with Japan.
