Side-event on the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) at G20 New Delhi Summit (Summary)
On September 9, from 17:40 local time (21:10 Japan time) for about 25 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, attended a side-event on the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) on the sidelines of the G20 New Delhi Summit. The side-event was co-hosted by the G20 Presidency, India and the United States, and was attended by Japan and other countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the European Commission, France, Germany and Italy.
At the side-event, each country introduced their respective initiatives to strengthen connectivity in India and other countries and regions, and expressed their expectations for the promotion of infrastructure investment, including private capital, under the PGII. Prime Minister Kishida introduced Japan's initiatives for connectivity in South Asia and the ASEAN region, and expressed Japan's commitment to take the lead in efforts to materialize the PGII, in cooperation with various actors.
