Interaction between Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko and Muskaan School (Summary)
On September 8th, Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko, the Spouse of Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio, who is currently visiting India accompanying the Prime Minister, received welcoming messages and hearty hand-sewn gifts from pupils of Muskaan School. This school is for girls from underprivileged families and has been supported by a group of volunteers of the Japanese Association Delhi. The gifts were handed to Mrs. KISHIDA by Mrs. SUZUKI, the spouse of Ambassador SUZUKI, on behalf of the pupils.
Mrs. KISHIDA received the children’s sentiments as she read the message. In return, Mrs. KISHIDA presented Kendamas, Japanese traditional toy, and school supplies, wishing health of pupils as well as development of the bilateral friendly relationship between Japan and India. These gifts are to be delivered to the school and pupils through Mrs. SUZUKI.

This school is located in Hauz Khas Village in Delhi. It offers after-school learning support to girls from underprivileged families. It is run by a charity organization named “Family Health and Education”, who pursues welfare and education of women and children. This organization offers learning support activities for girls through foreign volunteers and local students. Further, the organization teaches their mothers how to cook and sew so that the mothers can earn their living. A group of Japanese volunteers donate in cash and in kind, and also they support English language education once a week.
