Japan-Cook Islands Prime Ministers' Informal talks (Summary)

On September 7, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, during his visit to Indonesia to attend ASEAN-related Summit Meetings, held informal talks with Hon. Mark BROWN, Prime Minister of the Cook Islands (current chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF)). The overview of the talks is as follows.
Prime Minister Kishida stated that he was pleased to see Prime Minister Brown again after they last met in Hiroshima this May and explained Japan’s efforts regarding the discharge of ALPS treated water into the sea. He also stated that he would like to cooperate for the success of the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM 10) to be held next year.
In response, Prime Minister Brown stated that he supports Japan's efforts on ALPS treated water and would continue to work closely with Prime Minister Kishida.
