Prime Minister Kishida's Attendance at the Japan-UAE Business Forum (Summary)

On July 17, commencing at 4:10 p.m. local time (9:10 p.m. JST) for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting the United Arab Emirates, attended the “Japan-UAE Business Forum” organized by JETRO and the Ministry of Economy of the UAE. The overview of the forum is as follows.
The business forum was attended by His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, and other government officials from the UAE side, as well as a number of people from the public and private sectors of Japan and the UAE, including participants in the economic mission that visited the UAE with Prime Minister Kishida who had a lively exchange of views.
- At the beginning of the forum, Minister of Economy, His Excellency Al Marri, welcomed the participants from the public and private sectors of both countries and expressed his high expectations for strengthening partnerships and cooperation with Japanese companies, including investment in the UAE by Japanese companies. In addition, the UAE side expressed their expectations for further investment from Japan and made a presentation on business environment in the UAE.
- Prime Minister Kishida pointed out the importance of the UAE as the largest Japanese community in the Middle East and African region and a strategic energy security partner of Japan, and stated that the Japanese government will actively support the promotion of investment between the two countries. He also expressed his hope that the UAE government and business officials will actively utilize the Japanese public and private sectors to achieve economic diversification and industrial development in the UAE, followed by the signing and exchange of Memorandums of Cooperation (MOCs) by companies from both countries.
