On June 26, commencing at 5:10 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from a delegation of United States House Ways and Means Committee members who are visiting Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
- At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed the delegation’s visit to Japan and spoke about Japan’s close relations with the U.S. and the G7 Hiroshima Summit.
- Furthermore, Prime Minister Kishida shared his view that U.S. engagement in the the Indo-Pacific region’s economic order and economic security is increasingly important. He then conveyed Japan’s position on the TPP from a strategic perspective and exchanged views on U.S. engagement in the region with the delegation.
- The delegation thanked Prime Minister Kishida for the invitation and remarked that they look forward to continuing to advance cooperation between Japan and the U.S.
