Telephone talk between Prime Minister Kishida and President von der Leyen of the European Commission (Summary)

On June 21, commencing at 7:20 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H. E. Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. The overview of the talk is as follows.
- President von der Leyen explained that the EU presented its Economic Security Strategy yesterday. The two leaders exchanged views on cooperation in addressing economic and security challenges and agreed to maintain close communication between Japan and the EU, taking into account the outcome of the G7 Summit.
- The two leaders also agreed to discuss Japan-EU relations, regional affairs and cooperation in the international arena at the upcoming Japan-EU Summit scheduled for July.
