Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Kishida by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (Summary)

On June 9, commencing at 6:10 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, H.E. Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, who is visiting Japan. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida expressed that he is delighted to meet H.H. Sheikh Abdullah for the first time in six years, and stated that Japan would like to further strengthen cooperation with the UAE in various fields, under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI). In response, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed his renewed hopes for strengthening the bilateral relationship with Japan.
- Prime Minister Kishida stated that the leaders of the G7, invited countries and Ukraine shared the basic understanding on the rule of law and the non-permissibility of unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force at the G7 Hiroshima Summit and that he looks forward to working closely with the UAE. In response, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah stated that the UAE attaches importance on the rule of law and would like to work together with Japan including cooperation in the UN Security Council.
