Prime Minister Kishida’s Visit to Total’s Maputo Office (Summary)

On May 4, commencing at 2:40 p.m. local time (9:40 p.m. Japan time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Mozambique, visited Total’s Maputo Office and received a briefing from Mr. Maxime Rabilloud representative of the office, regarding the Mozambique LNG Project for which the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has provided loans and in which Mitsui & Co. and Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) have invested.

Prime Minister Kishida stated that he has understood the importance of the project not only for the stability and growth of Mozambique, but also for the stable supply of LNG to Japan and the rest of the world. Prime Minister Kishida explained some of the initiatives Japan has taken for the stability in the areas surrounding the site of the project and stated that Japan will continue to provide necessary support in cooperation with the Government of Mozambique and other related organizations.
