Courtesy Call from a Delegation Led by Senate President Zubiri of the Republic of the Philippines (Summary)
On April 5, commencing at 11:30 a.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from a delegation led by Hon. Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, President of the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed the visit to Japan by the delegation led by Hon. Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, President of the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines. Prime Minister Kishida also stated that Japan attaches an importance to coordination with the Philippines as a neighboring maritime nation, in order to maintain and strengthen the international order based on the rule of law. Furthermore, Prime Minister Kishida stressed that Japan would further contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region bearing in mind the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation this year.
2. In response, Senate President Zubiri expressed his commitment to continuing his support for the efforts of the Japanese and the Philippine governments to strengthen the Japan-Philippines relations, and hoped for Japan's role in the region.
