Prime Minister Kishida’s Visit to Arlington National Cemetery

On January 13, commencing at 8:40 a.m. (10:40 p.m. on January 13, Japan time) for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Washington D.C., visited Arlington National Cemetery.
 
Prime Minister Kishida was welcomed and guided by Ambassador Rufus Gifford, Chief of Protocol, U.S. Department of State, Ms. Karen Durham-Aguilera, Executive Director, Office of Army Cemeteries and Army National Military Cemeteries, and Major General Allan M. Pepin, Commanding General, U.S. Army Military District of Washington. Prime Minister Kishida laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with members of each Armed Forces forming lines and the Japanese and U.S. national anthems being performed.
