Courtesy Call on Prime Minister KISHIDA by H.E. Ms.Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the UNESCO

On January 9, for approximately 20 minutes, from 2:27 p.m.(10:27 p.m. JST), Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting France, received a courtesy call from H.E. Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
 
1. Prime Minister Kishida stated that Japan places importance on the role that UNESCO plays in the fields of education, culture and science, and that it has been making contribution proactively over the years. Prime Minister Kishida also stated that Japan would like to further strengthen the relationship between Japan and UNESCO.
 
2. In response, Director-General Azoulay expressed her appreciation for Japan's financial support and stated that UNESCO would like to further strengthen cooperation with Japan, including support for Ukraine.
 
3. Both sides concurred to also cooperate in dealing with the World Heritage Committee.
