Japan-Vietnam Summit Meeting

On November 13, commencing at 8:35 a.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who was on a visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a Summit Meeting with H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The summary of the meeting is as follows. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary ISOZAKI Yoshihiko and others attended the meeting.

1. The logo for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Viet Nam was announced in the presence of two leaders. 

2. Prime Minister Kishida expressed his desire to further strengthen relations with Vietnam, an important partner in realizing of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, and to enhance bilateral economic cooperation through ODA, human resource development, and among others. Prime Minister Chinh expressed his satisfaction with the results of cooperation between the two countries so far and his desire to accelerate cooperation in various fields towards and in the coming year.
 
3. Regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Prime Minister Kishida stated that he would like to raise his voice together with Viet Nam on the fact that the threat of nuclear weapons by Russia is absolutely unacceptable, and moreover, the use of such weapons should never be allowed. Prime Minister Chinh stated that he would like to cooperate to realize a world without nuclear weapons. Prime Minister Kishida stated that he would like to continue work closely together on the situation in the East and South China Seas and the situation in North Korea. Prime Minister Chinh expressed that he shared the same view, and Vietnam’s position on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the abduction issue is consistent and clear, Prime Minister Chinh also showed his appreciation and support for Japan's role in the region and in the international community.
