Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Kishida by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin of the Republic of Indonesia

On September 26, commencing at 5 p.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. KH. Ma'ruf Amin, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, who is visiting Japan to attend the State Funeral for the late Prime Minister ABE Shinzo. The overview of the call is as follows:
1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude to Vice President Ma’ruf for attending the State Funeral. In response, Vice President Ma’ruf expressed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Abe, and stated that former Prime Minister Abe had made a contribution to elevating the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.
2. Prime Minister Kishida expressed his intention to support Indonesia, as the G20 chair, towards a success of the G20 Bali Summit, and stated that Japan would like to continue not only working on further development of the bilateral cooperation, but also further cooperating on regional and global challenges, as Japan chairs G7 and Indonesia chairs ASEAN next year respectively. In response, Vice President Ma’ruf expressed his intention to further enhance the bilateral relations by following up on President Joko’s visit in July. Besides, the two sides concurred to further enhance the cooperative relations towards the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Japan-Indonesia diplomatic relations and the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation next year.
