Visit to Okinawa Prefecture: Day 2

On May 15, 2022, on the second day of his visit to Okinawa Prefecture, Prime Minister Kishida visited the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma and the site of the West Futenma Housing Area before visiting the Lower Plaza Housing area of Camp Zukeran and participating in a roundtable talk at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) to discuss education and research and industry-academia collaboration. Then, in the online presence of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, the Prime Minister attended a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reversion of Okinawa to Japan before receiving a new “Okinawa Promotion Plan” from Mr. TAMAKI Denny, Governor of Okinawa Prefecture. Afterwards, the Prime Minister attended a commemorative reception and held a press conference regarding the series of visits he made during the day and other matters.
