Press Conference by the Chief Cabinet Secretary (Excerpt)
[Provisional Translation]
REPORTER: I believe U.S. Ambassador to Japan Hagerty visited the Prime Minister’s Office and met with you a short while ago. Could you tell us what was discussed? In particular, was there any exchange on the recent series of malfunctions of the U.S. Forces’ aircraft?
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: Firstly, this afternoon, I received a courtesy call from General Raymond, Commander of the U.S. Air Force Space Command, who is visiting Japan to attend the International Symposium on Ensuring Stable Use of Outer Space. Ambassador Hagerty also attended the courtesy call. During this occasion, we held usual conversations on the Japan-U.S. cooperation in the field of outer space.
REPORTER: Does that mean no discussion in particular took place regarding the malfunctions of U.S. Forces’ aircraft?
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: The Government and the U.S. Forces are constantly working closely with each other so that we can take swift responses should any problems arise.
