Opening Statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: The 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 21), which will be convened from November 30 in Paris, France, is a critically important conference aimed at arriving at a new international framework on global warming measures to replace the Kyoto Protocol. Today, the Global Warming Prevention Headquarters held a meeting. The Headquarters compiled Japan’s new set of contribution in the form of “Actions for Cool Earth 2.0 (ACE 2.0),” which consists of two pillars: support to developing countries and innovation. At the COP 21 Summit Meeting, Prime Minister Abe will send a strong message to the world and contribute to reaching an agreement at COP 21.
