Opening Statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: Circumstances permitting, from September 26 to October 2, Prime Minister Abe will attend the United Nations (UN) General Assembly session in New York as well as visit Jamaica. Prime Minister Abe will deliver an address at the UN General Assembly on the 29th, as well as an address at the UN Sustainable Development Summit on the 27th. On this occasion, the Prime Minister is expected to hold talks with the leaders of relevant countries and others. In addition, during his stay in Jamaica, Prime Minister Abe will hold talks with The Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica, and attend other events. We consider that Prime Minister Abe’s visit to the United States and Jamaica serves as a significant opportunity to proactively convey Japan’s views regarding the global issues facing the international community, as well as deepen the Prime Minister’s relationships of trust with the leaders of various countries.
