Opening Statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA:

The Cabinet approved the holding of the Ise-Shima Summit from May 26 to 27 of next year. The Government will work collectively in preparing for a successful summit. We have decided to establish, effective today, the Liaison Meeting for the Ise-Shima Summit, which will be chaired by Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Kazuhiro Sugita. The Government is committed to ensuring the success of the Ise-Shima Summit, and we ask for your understanding and cooperation in this endeavor. With regard to the G7 ministerial meetings, we have decided to hold the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Hiroshima and the Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting in Sendai. With respect to the other ministerial meetings, the Government will make a decision and announce it at the appropriate time, taking into consideration the local governments’ bids to host the meetings from the viewpoint of vitalizing local economies.
