Opening Statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: From April 21 to 23, Prime Minister Abe will visit Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the summit commemoration of the 60th Asian-African Conference, which will be held there. More than 100 countries and international organizations were invited to this conference from Asia and Africa. It is an opportunity to discuss ways of promoting peace, prosperity, and cooperation in these regions, among other matters. Japan has thus far made significant contributions to the development of Asia and Africa. At the conference, Prime Minister Abe will express Japan’s determination to contribute even more proactively to the development and prosperity of Asia and Africa, based on the policy of “Proactive Contribution to Peace.”
