REPORTER: There are press reports that suggest that the Government is engaging with the United Kingdom on joint research into missile technologies. What are the facts behind these reports and what is the purpose of such research?

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: I am aware of these press reports, but I have not heard anything specific about this matter.

REPORTER: The United States and the European Union (EU) have decided to impose further sanctions with regard to the situation in Ukraine. What are your thoughts on this decision and what will be the response of the Government of Japan?

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: With regard to this matter the existing basic position of Japan is to work in cooperation with the G7, based on these developments in the United States and the EU. We will continue to respond appropriately based on this position.
