Press Conference by the Chief Cabinet Secretary (Excerpt)
[Provisional Translation]
Q&As
(Abridged)
REPORTER: Members of the National Assembly Defense Committee of the Republic of Korea (ROK) are planning to land on Takeshima tomorrow. Does the Government have any information about these plans?
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY FUJIMURA: I am aware of this report. The Japanese Embassy in the ROK has repeatedly contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the ROK to stress that if a landing were to occur, it would be very regrettable and to ask them to stop the landing.
REPORTER: On the same topic, how has the ROK Government responded to these messages?
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY FUJIMURA: I believe that the plan to land on Takeshima is formed by the National Assembly itself rather than the ROK Government and therefore we have not yet received any specific response from the Government.
REPORTER: So, I understand that the messages have been delivered to the National Assembly via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the ROK. Am I right to understand that you are yet to receive any response thus far?
CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY FUJIMURA: We have not yet received any response.
