CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY FUJIMURA: His Imperial Highness Prince Tomohito of Mikasa has passed away today at 3:35pm. I cannot help but express great shock and sadness upon hearing of the sudden demise of His Imperial Highness. I was aware that His Imperial Highness was hospitalized. I had been extending my sincerest prayers for his recovery. I hereby would like to offer my deepest sympathies to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress and other members of the Imperial Family for their profound sorrow as well as my heartfelt condolences.
