Opening Statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Fujimura

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY FUJIMURA: I would like to give an overview of the Cabinet meeting. The meeting approved nine general and other measures and also cabinet orders and personnel decisions. With regard to statements by ministers, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries made a statement concerning the FY2011 Annual Report on Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas in Japan, and Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda made a statement concerning the draft legislation for children and child-rearing support, the draft legislation for integrated kindergarten and childcare facilities ("sogo-kodomo-en"), and other matters, respectively. I made a statement concerning the 2012 Spring Conferment of Decorations and Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals. In ministerial discussions following the Cabinet meeting, the Minister of Finance made a statement concerning the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting and other matters.

Regarding the Spring Conferment of Decorations and Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals, the recipients of the 2012 Spring Conferment of Decorations and Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals were decided at today's Cabinet meeting.
