Decision of the 24th Meeting of the Committee for
Drawing Up and Promoting the Action Program
The Government of Japan, has decided to revise the coverage of the "Procedures to Introduce Supercomputers" (the decision of the 13th meeting of the Committee for Drawing Up and Promoting the Action Program on 19 April 1990), and accordingly revise the "Measures Related to Japanese Public Sector Procurements of Computer Products and Services," (the decision of the 17th meeting of the Committee for Drawing Up and Promoting the Action Program on 20 January 1992), as outlined herein.
Revision of the Coverage of Procedures to Introduce Supercomputers
The theoretical peak ratings threshold of "300 million floating point operations per second (MFLOPS) and over" is to be raised to "5 billion floating point operations per second (GIGAFLOPS) and over."
"Supercomputer procurements will continue to be covered by the '1990 Procedures to Introduce Supercomputers,' including any amendments thereto, and will not be covered by the Measures."
