The Government of Japan has decided to revise the coverage of the "Procedures to Introduce Supercomputers" (the decision of the 24th meeting of the Committee for Drawing Up and Promoting the Action Program on 27 March 1995(final revision)) partially, as outlined herein.



Partial Revision of the Procedures to Introduce Supercomputers

  1. The theoretical peak ratings threshold of "5 billion floating point operations per second (GIGAFLOPS) and over" is to be raised to "50 billion floating point operations per second (GIGAFLOPS) and over."

  2. The revisions will become effective on 1 May 1999.
