Early in the morning Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, from Washington, D.C. The Prime Minister went by boat to the site of the recent accidental sinking of the Ehime Maru, a training vessel of Uwajima Fisheries High School, by the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine USS Greeneville. Accompanying him were family members of some of those missing at sea and the Vice-Governor of Ehime Prefecture. Later in the day the Prime Minister laid a wreath at Punchbowl National Cemetery, Honolulu, which honors World War II dead, before departing for Japan.
