(Provisional Translation) Message from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to President Megawati Sukarnoputri of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the terrorist attack in Jakarta, Indonesia September 9, 2004

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has conveyed a message to Dr. Megawati Sukarnoputri, the President of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the large scale terrorist bombing attack that occurred near the Australian Embassy in the center of Jakarta (Kuningan district), the capital of Indonesia, on Thursday, September 9 at around 10:15 a.m. local time (Japan time: 12:15 p.m.), causing many deaths and injuries. In the message, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his condolences to the victims of the attack, and announced Japan's intention to provide assistance in the investigation of the attack and in measures to prevent a recurrence.
